What do you do?
I am a writer, comic book artist and graphic designer. Self taught artist working in pencil, inks and coloring in digital media. Part of my work is designing business logos and graphics for large and small companies.
What are the biggest changes you see happening in your industry?
Smaller graphic design companies can compete with larger corporations by use of social media.
What opportunities and challenges will these changes bring about?
Even my small business can gain the same promotional power as a large corporation when social media is used with savvy. though I cannot always compete on pricing, my hand drawn, never clip art, original works do stand out among the cookie cutter designs mass produced form large production studios.
What are your biggest goals?
Publishing a complete graphic novel and having that novel become a film or Netflix original.
Who and what would you need to reach your goals fast?
Many of the big name comic book producers no longer take solicitation directly, although conventions and portfolio review are offered, there is a great deal of competition. I’m sure when I get to pitch for my story(s) in front of an editor I would be offered a contract.
Finally, who should contact you and why?
Oni Press, Image Comics, Boom Studios are probably on the top of my list. But if there is a creative house ready for new, relevant stories for our time, able to solicit thru Diamond or other distributors, I am ready with a handful of story lines and ideas to keep any creative studio busy for two years.
